The Cypriot education system aims to the preparation of its citizens with faith in the human values of freedom, democracy and justice. Public Education The public educational system in Cyprus comprises three levels: * First Compulsory * Upper Secondary and * Tertiary. Apart from the public schools, a number of private schools operate at the first compulsory and upper secondary levels, following foreign educational systems, mainly English and French.
Additionaly, a number of special schools for people with disabilities (deaf, blind, people with mental, mobility and behavioural problems) operate at the first compulsory and upper secondary levels.
